Painting projects

Today I teased a co-worker about working overtime on weekends - I am pretty opposed to it myself.  However when later telling tales of my weekend plans, the same co-worker reminded that 'I don't work on weekends'.  I guess it is a question of what do you consider 'work'?
I painted our bedroom last weekend, from 'cool dip' a light an airy blue to 'jungle brush' a far more yellow than I anticipated green.  As soon as it hit the walls I knew I wasn't a fan of 'jungle brush', but thought I might warm up to it.
Tomorrow I am off to Home Depot to find another color, something lighter, sunnier, but still green.
I will probably paint the entryway the same new color, the bathroom will likely become a dark blue/green.  Dark brown trees added to an accent bedroom wall to form a headboard, and white birch trees featured in the soon to be dramatic bath.  Maybe black outlines around the painted art, and new white trim.  White doors too?
I am excited for the most challenging of my projects:  to flatten a textured wall in my kitchen and make a chalkboard wall.
I feel like spring is in the almost March air, it is time for a fresh coat of paint.

Details

When I was a Junior in high school I took a trip to Washington DC. Alaska to DC was quite the experience when I was young, this was a school sponsored event to learn the inner workings of our government. We meet politicians, set off museum alarms (that was me actually, though I assure you I wasn't trying to steal my favorite painting), saw monuments, drove through nearby states and experienced our first musical (Hello Dolly....).

One of my roommates had a camera you would envy even now, her Dad had lent it to her for the trip, and at each destination she would take pictures of the tops of monuments. I remember thinking that she was taking pictures of things that I could never see.
Now, these are some of my favorite things to take pictures of, the tops, the details, macros, the little things that I can zoom in on later. I wish all of those details were at street level, maybe more people would appreciate them.
...and just for fun? This was then:

Busy feet

I have been neglecting this space, and I regret it. I just have been finding myself busy as of late, busy at work, busy at the gym, busy at home... busy in life.
My boyfriend compares me to a toddler in footie pajamas, you chase the toddler around the house in desperate attempt to put them to bed, but those feet are busy!
I am going to try to post every Friday.
Friday is a good day. :)

2010 Socializing and the Flower and Garden Show

Hello! This is an incredibly busy (read STRESSFUL) time of year at work, and in my free time I have been compensating with social activity! Last weekend some girlfriends and I got together for brunch at Citizen Cafe, a French/Vietnamese coffee house in lower Queen Anne.

Despite being tiny and semi-chaotic, the food at Citizen Cafe was tasty (I had the turkey crepe and a bite of the biscuits and gravy - both of which were delicious!), and they offer $5 pitchers of Mimosas! We hung out for hours and caught up on the year and a half since our last brunch get together. I love girl bonding time! :)

This weekend I meet some of my co-workers at Feierabend, a fantastic little German place in East Lake Union. The have tasty food, and if you go with a group of people you have to drink a boot! 3 Liters of beer is slightly intimidating to this non-beer lover, but I sipped in the name of workplace bonding! I was very careful not to let the boot touch the table though, I did NOT want to have to drink the whole thing! lol....
...But wait, there is more! lol... My friend Beth came into town today to join me at the Flower and Garden Show! I guess I am not too into local conventions, but I make a point to visit the Flower and Garden Show every year. I love the large displays, and each year am amazed by the full grown plants they hall in for exhibits. This year was especially interesting with several winning exhibits featuring eco-gardening, practical applications, a goat, and chickens!

I think you are all caught up, I hope you enjoyed all of the pics!
